♥ Starting our family through adoption! ♥
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. Hi there! We recognize the tremendous courage you have in considering adoption. We don't know what the feeling is like for you while you explore this path, we are just here for you to get to know us in the hopes we might be a good fit for you and what you want for your baby :)
We are seeking to adopt a newborn through an independent adoption.

Seven years ago we met at the rock climbing gym. Michael was the co-founder of a tech startup and Ronie was just retiring from mountain bike racing and we met through a big group of friends. We spent our time climbing, hiking, snowboarding and biking and traveling.
One fall weekend we went camping in Telluride, Colorado to see a concert and found out how much we love live music together, so we started seeing tons of live music and made a lot of friends all over the country. Two years later on a surprise trip to New York, Michael proposed at a concert during one of our favorite songs! We have been seeing lots of music ever since, dancing any chance we get. We love feeling the groove and enjoy being with so many people who are having a good time.
When we were just dating and things got serious we started to have discussions on our views for a family, which included adoption. My grandmother is adopted, and I (Ronie) have a cousin who is adopted, too, so I knew a little about it and thought it would be a great way to provide a home for someone who might not otherwise have the choice. Michael was very open to this, so we decided that adoption would be an awesome way to have a family together. We are here to provide a loving home for a child and cultivate a relationship with their biological mother, too.
Adoption is forever so being in an open adoption is a big piece for us, either through pictures and chats or visits, whatever seems to make sense over the many years to come. If we can get to know you now we will get to learn about what you like and who you are so we can always have a piece of this memory for our child and that is very important to us. We want our child to ALWAYS know that they are loved by us, and that they were placed with us out of a loving and caring heart.
We enjoy cooking healthy foods, eating pizza, listening to music, dancing, cheering on our favorite teams (Michael's favorite teams!) and exploring the city. There is so much history here, and the buildings and architecture are amazing. We look forward to the adventures we will one day enjoy with our child. We imagine spending the days reading and playing, enjoying the city’s many parks and gardens, going to museums, and enjoying relaxing weekends.
We have a nice cozy apartment that is on the top floor and full of sunshine. We enjoy cooking healthy foods and visiting the gardens and parks in our neighborhood. There are many great elementary schools around.
Some days we just spend time together reading and watching movies and eating homemade pizza or watching sports. Michael loves to tell jokes and thinks he's pretty funny so there's a lot of eye rolling that goes on...

Ronie loves to help everyone be happy and healthy. She is always making healthy food and staying active. She loves to ride bikes and dance. She takes the best care of me and always puts family first and has a kind and loving heart.
Ronie is so excited to spend time making healthy baby foods for our little one and reading them stories.
She is planning to stay at home as a mom. She loves her job so might want to continue and maybe work part time, but she knows how busy it will be to have a kiddo so is prepared for that, too.

Michael really loves life and I am so excited to see him to be dad (although I feel like he already is because he tells so many "dad" jokes ;) He has a deep curiosity of how to make the world a better place and fun to be around even though he comes off as a little serious and intellectual.
He likes history, world events, technology and sports. His favorite team, The Chicago Cubs, won the World Series last year and he went back to Chicago to watch the game with his brother, dad and uncle. He's really into hockey, too. I watch games with him but usually end up falling asleep..unless it's one of my favorite players on the Chicago Cubs, Javier Biaz or Anthony Rizzo!!
He is especially excited to teach our child about the world and that there are all different types of people and to not judge or be critical and give people a chance.
We are close to our family and friends in Chicago, California, and Boston who are all very supportive of our decision to adopt, including possibly a multiracial family. Ronie is from a mixed family with cousins who are black, and with her being Christian and Michael being Jewish, we feel we will be good at navigating life and guiding a kiddo who might be of a different race or have biological parents of a different religion or ethnicity.
We have taken parenting classes and training on working through situations as an adoptive family, so we feel well equipped when our child faces any adversity in school or out in the world. We are really open people and accepting without judgement and hope to instill those values into our child.
We celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah and are spiritual and believe in God. We pray for strength and protection for our friends and family, especially if we are ever having a hard time or fighting. We don't really fight a lot but sometimes we have a hard time just sharing space. Ronie grew up as an only child so is used to being a little messy and leaving her things around, and Michael has a brother so likes to have his own place for things and is super tidy and clean, so it creates a little bit of an issue sometimes but we try to just be respectful of each other's way of doing things.
Michael's family is very open-minded and supportive, and Ronie's best friend is her mom so she gets unconditional support and love.
